Spotlight on Nissan Motors


Nissan Motors Company was founded in the year 1932 in Japan. It is a multinational Japanese automobile making company. Previously it was governed by Nissan Group’s core members but it is reformed under Carlous Ghosn who is a president, niceasicminer co-chairman as well as CEO of the company. The members of the company are Nobuo (Executive, VP and Director), Takeshi Isayama (Vice Chair) as well as Toshiyuki (CEO). Nissan Motors initially marketed its vehicles under the brand name Dastun. On August 8, 2009 Nissan’s global headquarters were established at Nishi-ku, Yokohama. Nissan entered into an agreement with Renault S.A. of France during the year 2008.

In 2004, Nissan brought out an edition of the Quest. Nissan established partnership with a recognized European company Austin (UK), to gain access to automobile and engine designs. On May 17, 2006, 20 hybrid trucks were released in Japan Atals. On June 30, 2006 an emergency board meeting was proposed by General Motors to discuss a proposal with Kirk Kerkorian stakeholders with the intent of forming an alliance between GM and Renault Nissan.

Carlos G, current CEO of GM has been attributed with revival of Nissan. Nissan’s North American headquarters have shifted from California to Nashville and Tennessee in July 2006. For the last couple of years, approximately 1500 employees have been working in Franklin, Tennessee.

With an initial investment of about Rs. 400 millions to manufacture nearly 50,000 tractors vehicles and spare parts, their supplies will be brought to the Asian markets by Renault and Nissan. The scheme is expected to raise Tamil Nadu’s (an Indian State) Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by nearly Rs.180 millions per annum, subject to their promise of providing 41,000 fresh jobs.
